Your Thesis at Queen's

What are the benefits of eThesis?

There are a number of advantages to making your thesis open access:

  • Increased visibility for your thesis
  • Increased use of your research
  • Potential for increased recognition of your work and collaboration opportunities
  • Digital preservation of your work

How do I deposit my eThesis in Pure?

Who should deposit their eThesis?

Queen's Postgraduate Research students registered from September 2016 onwards are required to upload an electronic copy of their thesis to Pure for Open Access display on the Queen's Research Portal. This is in addition to submitting the standard two print copies.

All current students in receipt of Research Councils UK funding must make their thesis open access no later than 12 months following award.

Students registered before September 2016 or not funded by Research Councils UK are also welcome to upload their thesis to Pure.

How do I request an embargo?

If you want to embargo your eThesis you must indicate this on the Thesis Deposit Form that is included with the two hard bound copies you submit to Student Services and Systems. You can also apply the embargo length and reason when you are adding your eThesis to Pure.

The Open Access Team will cross check the embargo in Pure with the embargo information provided in the Thesis Deposit Form.
