Support for Teaching: Books for your Module

Books

Book requests can be emailed to the appropriate Subject Librarian, along with the module name, code, and where possible, the number of students taking the module.

If you wish to supply a full module reading list well ahead of the start of teaching, Library staff can check Library holdings of all books referred to and arrange for the scanning of individual book chapters.

The time line for availability of books during pre and early semester times is approximately 7 working days for ebooks and between 3 and 5 weeks for print books.

Print books

While the Library endeavours to purchase ebooks where this isn't possible, your Subject Librarian will order multiple copies of print books and place them in the Short Loan Collection if appropriate.

If you wish to refer students to more than one chapter of a book, please let your Subject Librarian know as soon as possible, so that an appropriate number of copies can be added to the Library’s collections. Scanned Extracts may also be created for single chapters or up to 10% of a book.

The time line for availability of print books during pre and early semester times is approximately 3 and 5 weeks.

Ebooks

The Library endeavours to purchase ebooks and publishers offer a range of institutional licenses for libraries to purchase. Licenses vary from single simultaneous user to unlimited user and your Subject Librarian will select the best access option to meet your module needs.

Where publishers haven't released an institutional license, print format will be sourced and placed in the Short Loan Collection if appropriate.

The time line for availability of ebooks during pre and early semester times is approximately 7 working days.
