Reported Cases (UK Law Reports)

Most of the European Court of Human Rights cases cited in UK courts have been reported the following reports series:

ECHR cases can be found using the 'Case Law' search in either Westlaw UK, or the Lexis Library using party names or the relevevant law report citation.

European Court of Human Rights Case Citations

Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights are cited with an application number (including two digits for the year of application) and full date of the publication, e.g.

Dickson v the United Kingdom App no 44362/04 (ECtHR, 4 December 2007).

Selected judgments are printed in the official report, Reports of Judgments and Decisions. An abbreviation and volume number is added as follows, e.g.

Dickson v the United Kingdom ECHR 2007-V.

Judgments reported in UK law reports use standard law report citation, e.g.

Boyle v United Kingdom (2008) 47 EHRR 19.

for a case reported in the European Human Rights Reports (using a final case number rather than a page number for this series).
