Open access journals

This page connects you to a number of key publisher websites and on-line platforms offering open access (i.e. free) journal content. Many other open access sources are available - you'll find some of them listed at: https://libguides.qub.ac.uk/openaccess/useful/resources
BioMed Central (BMC)

BioMed Central (BMC) is an extensive collection of on-line open access journals, covering research areas such as biomedicine, mathematics, Earth sciences, and medicine/public health.

Access BMC by Googling it, or by clicking the link below.

Click 'Explore journals' to view journals by subject or title.

Search across all BMC journal titles, or within specific journals. All articles may be read as webpages, or downloaded as PDFs.

You can also access individual BMC journals directly by Googling them: e.g. BMC Cardiovascular Disorders, Cardiovascular Ultrasound etc.

On-line index providing access to thousands of high-quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals.

Access DOAJ via Google, or by clicking the link below:

Search for journals by title or keyword, or across all the 6 million+ articles indexed by DOAJ.

Click READ ONLINE links to connect to third party journal or publisher platforms, which will allow you to download article PDFs for free.

PLOS publishes a range of on-line open access journals, covering topics such as biology, global public health, and sustainability/transformation.
