Accounting, Business, Economics & Finance: Statistics / Data sets

UK Data Service / Archive

The UK Data Service is the largest collection of social science data sets available for research and teaching in academia.

The first time you use the service you'll be asked to register. After that, you will be able to log in to any of the data sets and surveys. A free online training programme is available.

Data is sourced from:

  • official agencies - mainly central government
  • international statistical agencies
  • individual academics with research grants
  • market research agencies
  • historical sources
  • other data archives worldwide

UK Data Service Training

UK Data Service provides access to a wide range of social science data for reuse. To help you get the most from the service, browse the events pages for a full list of what is available.

Recordings of UK Data Service events are made available on our YouTube channel and, together with the slides, on past events pages soon after the event has taken place.

Census

Census data sets are available to academic staff and students dating from 1851.

A range of Census reports for the UK and Ireland from 1801 are available in print at the McClay Library. Please ask at the Enquiry Desk on Floor 2.
