Finding Books 

The Library at Queen’s holds a wide range of books that are relevant for courses being undertaken in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Print books and electronic books (ebooks) can be located using the library catalogue on the library homepage.   

 

Print books 

Most of the relevant print books can be found in the Biomedical Library in the Medical Biology Centre (MBC) or the Medical Library on the Royal Victoria Hospital site.  Books can be transferred between libraries so if you would like to request a book from one location to collect in another branch, please use the request facility on the library catalogue or ask a member of staff. You can also return books to any Queen's Library. More information on books can be found on the following page:

Ebooks 

The library also has many ebooks and they can be accessed both on campus and remotely, for example, at home via Library Search. Just use the link in the record to connect to the full text. More information on ebooks can be found on the following page:

Step by step instructions on finding books:

  • In the search box, enter the title of the book or a few keywords of a topic 

  • On the next page, sign in by clicking on the yellow banner and enter your QUB email credentials 

  • You can use the limits on the left hand side to refine the results, for example, books 

  • Then locate the title that you want 

  • Available online means the book is an ebook (follow the links to access it online) 

  • Available at means it is available as a print book (make a note of the shelf mark and go the relevant library to borrow it)

Reading list books   

The library makes every effort to hold the key texts that are on reading lists for your modules.   

If there are books on your module reading list which you cannot find in the library catalogue, please let me know by filling out the book form or sending me an email c.tierney@qub.ac.uk  

 

Books not on reading lists   

The library also considers suggestions for purchasing books which are not on module reading lists. If you would like to recommend a book for the library collection, please email me c.tierney@qub.ac.uk
