Individual help with literature searching

Before scheduling an appointment with me for assistance with literature searching, please:

  1. Watch the videos on literature searching available here.
  2. Discuss and refine your search strategy with your supervisor.
  3. Conduct database searches and note any issues you encounter. See Database video tutorials for a demonstration of how to search using the different database platforms.

Following these steps will ensure you are well prepared and will be able to maximize the benefits of our appointment.

If the library doesn't hold a book that is relevant to your course or research, or if there aren't enough copies of a recommended text, please let me know. E-mail your suggestions to me at c.a.dunlop@qub.ac.uk

I will consider every book purchase suggestion and, if appropriate, the book will be ordered for the library.

Learning Development Service

The Learning Development Service at Queen’s provides academic skills support to undergraduate students. They do this both on-course, as part of taught degree programmes, and via individual one-to-one engagement. Academic skills support offered includes guidance on time management, exam preparation, academic writing, referencing, academic integrity, and research.

They have also designed a Transitions Skills for University package (on Canvas) to support your learning and progress.
